The Handling In-Flight Emergencies course covers scenarios that are not typically covered in your regular private pilot courses. But ought to be. If you think about it, how many of us had the luxury of their door opening on takeoff during primary flight training? Rod covers what to do, what not to do, and most importantly, why you may want to do so. This course is packed with valuable information and mixed with Rod’s humor which keeps the viewer engaged. I am planning on making this part of my annual refresher training.

      Thoughtful, enjoyable, and useful!

This was a great series that taught me a lot of new information about handling all kinds of in-flight emergencies I might not have otherwise thought much about. I'm interested in aviation bankrupting me safely, and I found the modules taught me a ton of new information in a way that makes it straightforward, easy to remember, and it just makes sense. The videos on handling autopilot emergencies were particularly helpful and had a lot of information I haven't seen or read anywhere else. I also feel much more capable of crashing with grace and style if ever it becomes necessary. Going through these modules once or twice a year is going to be a great way to keep fresh on skills that I hopefully never need but will be very glad to have if something big were to go wrong.

I couldn't wait for Rod's Handling In-Flight Emergencies course to come out. As a Flight Instructor, it's critically important to me to explore the many scenarios of what could go wrong with my students. Sometimes scenarios are difficult to makeup when they are not derived from real-life experiences. Rod's course allows me to explore the possible issues that could arise and talk with my students to evaluate the risk factors and what-if's. Highly recommended for all pilots.

Things they didn't teach me at my flight school.

I am a student pilot and whenever I have any questions about anything, I just grab Rod Machado’s Private Pilot Handbook, and problem solved. Rod is making my learning process so much easier, not to mention more entertaining. I listen to his emergency situation seminar tapes all the time, they too made me aware of so many things that they did not teach me at my flight school.

Excerpts from a review in Disciples of Flight

It is definitely an entertaining and educating course that offers valuable material for both student and certificated pilots. It focuses on prevention and keeping a cool head, and doesn’t frighten pilots by taking the gloom and doom approach about high fatality rates and such. Rod provides real statistics proving how survivable in-flight emergencies can be when handled properly, and uses humor and easy-to-memorize checklists to help pilots feel comfortable and confident behind the controls. My favorite aspect of the whole series is that it explains why we take the precautions we take when it comes to flying. Many pilots could go their whole life without knowing why we do certain things on the checklist or check for certain things in the pre-flight. This course provides a new depth of motivation to be thorough and focus on preventing accidents by taking the proper care and precaution when it comes to maintaining and operating an aircraft. Possibly the most valuable section for more experienced pilots is part four, which deals with in-flight fires and carb ice. Very valuable to me as a student pilot was the section on turbulence. The course is not only full of helpful information, it’s got loads of fun trivia for various types of airplanes.

"Well done, sir" on your In-Flight Emergencies course. I found it extremely helpful as a refresher. I might add, I did manage to pick up a few new pointers as well. I have 2300+ hours TT.
