If you are a student pilot who would like to learn the essentials of basic cross country flight planning, then this is the course for you.
Welcome to Rod Machado's interactive program titled, Basic Cross Country Flight Planning for Student Pilots. In it, I’ll cover everything you’ll need to learn to plot a course on an aviation sectional chart, correct for magnetic variation, compass deviation and wind to find the compass heading needed to travel from one airport to another. I’ll also cover how to use your mechanical flight computer for speed, time, distance and fuel calculation. This course is intended to teach you the basic skills of pilotage and dead reckoning navigation as well as the knowledge necessary to pass the private pilot knowledge exam in these areas. These are the navigational skills that every pilot needs to know. While I won’t cover electronic navigation in this course—that’s will be in another course—I will cover what you need to know to complete the flight log for your first dual or solo cross country flight.
This course should also be used by flight instructors to help them prepare their students for dual and solo cross country flights.
Please note, all eLearning courses come with accompanying text in "Notes" section of player. And each course section comes with quizzes to test your knowledge.
